what is SaaS?
Software as a Service, or SaaS, is a method of software deployment where a service provider licenses an application to customers for use as a service on demand. Typically SaaS licensed users access the software and manage it via a secure internet connection. This enables users to pay a much lower cost per user, have access to the program from multiple locations and not have to worry about keeping the software current with the latest version.
what can it do for me?
SaaS providers are able to deliver their application in a one-to-many model, meaning that access to the program is through one point for multiple users. This greatly decreases the network infrastructure, architecture, and management costs associated with running multiple versions of a program on various end user devices. Not to mention the centralized nature of SaaS alleviates the need for end-users to download patches and upgrades.
